Picture Lingo is a fun way for kids to memorize hundreds of whole sentences from a native English speaker.
From birth, kids listen to native speakers every day, and bit by bit, the language they hear sticks in their minds. This is the natural way they pick up their first language. At Picture Lingo we have designed a new way to expose kids to a NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER every day, so that they can pick up ENGLISH like they pick up their first language.
Let’s start with the story of how the idea of our company came about:
When our daughter Layla was 3 years old, her KG teacher told us that Layla had sat on a sofa with a picture story book in her hands and read the whole book, page by page to the other children. The teacher was fascinated by this, because Layla was still only 3, and couldn’t read! So how had she done it? LAYLA’S MUM, MY WIFE CLARA, HAD READ THIS BOOK TO HER SO MANY TIMES THAT SHE HAD MEMORIZED IT.
**And this is the idea behind Picture Lingo: In our app CLARA READS SPECIALLY WRITTEN BOOKS TO YOUR KIDS EVERY DAY, SO THAT THEY CAN MEMORIZE THEM JUST LIKE LAYLA DID**
Books and methodology
*Clara has carefully written our books for little language learners, with SIMPLE, yet USEFUL language, for example: how to ask about things or say what you like.
*The SIMPLE, USEFUL language is RHYMING, so kids can memorize it quickly.
*The books are AUDIOBOOKS, so kids listen to Clara reading them.
*To make the language comprehensible, i.e. understandable, each page is enhanced by a carefully crafted picture which translates the words that they hear.
*The books are also translated into major languages so non-English speaking adults can further assist kids with their understanding.
*If an adult is not present, kids can listen to an audio translation in their language.
*In their first language, we naturally speak to children in WHOLE SENTENCES. Our app uses this same methodology.
*By listening to connected speech, kids can pick up the natural rhythm and ACCENT of language.
Benefits of reading stories to children:
*Research shows that children who regularly listen to picture story books perform better academically in all subjects including math, have a larger vocabulary and are more creative than those who don’t.
*Picture books can help kids develop a love for reading, and research shows that children who love reading do better in school.
Cost
We believe that every child deserves to pick up English if they want to, so our subscription cost is designed to be affordable for everyone.
What you get
*3 free audio, picture books when you download the app.
*If you subscribe you access a new book from the library every month (a total of 15 books by the end of the 1st year).

What your child can achieve with Picture Lingo:
By the time Layla was 3, she had memorized many books by simply listening to them. Similarly, if kids use Picture Lingo consistently from an early age, when they start studying English at school they will already have learnt 1000s of sentences.
